Spring's in Full Swing!
Here we are again! Hard to believe winter's truly
over and the pollen count is rising. Azaleas in bloom,
everything is coming to life and Wilmington looks like a
huge garden. It's a magical time of rebirth and that interim
between cold and high humidity is really
inviting!
Our artists have emerged from their studios
to bring you lots of enticing works of art, some of which
are featured in this month's newsletter.
Some news
of note.....Fountainside's artists continue to be on the
move in the artworld:
Congrats to Paula Holtzclaw on
being accepted to the International Salon Exhibition at
Greenhouse Gallery in San Antonio, Texas. Paula and her
husband Chuck were on hand for the opening over Easter
weekend.
Congrats also to Jeff Jamison and Qiang
Huang for being accepted into the most prestigious oil
painters show in the country, the Oil Painters of America's
18th National Exhibition. Jeff and his wife Judy
miraculously escaped last week's tornadoes in Murfreesboro,
Tennessee.
Congrats to David Weiss for moving into
the final round of International Artist Magazine's
competition....well done!
NEW QIANG HUANG STILL LIFES!
 Qiang Huang, our
favorite still life painter, has just sent us a couple
of new oils, one of which is shown here.
"Extraordinarily Ordinary" is a 12x16, beautifully
framed at $1400. Qiang (pronounced Chong) comes
from China. His interest in art was developed in his
early years and influenced by his uncle, a
professional painter and art educator. Qiang has
studied basic skills of drawing and painting under his
uncle’s guidance. While in school he won multiple
awards for his art. After immigrating to
America, Qiang began a career in science and
technology. However, he stayed active in the local art
community. To further develop his artistic skills he
attended classes and workshops. He has studied with
well-known artists like Miles Mathis, Scott Burdick,
David Leffel, and Sherrie McGraw. Qiang is most
inspired by paintings of late 19th century artists
John Singer Sargent, Nicholai Fechin, William
Bouguereau and Lawrence Alma-Tadema. Qiang’s subjects
are mostly on still life, portraiture and figurative.
His paintings show remarkable accuracy under lush
brush strokes. Qiang is a member of the Oil
Painters of America. His paintings have been shown at
the 14th and 15th OPA National Juried
Exhibitions. CONGRATS TO QIANG ON BEING
ACCEPTED TO THE 18TH OPA NATIONAL EXHIBIT!

CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPES FROM MARY ROUNTREE
MOORE! A native of North Carolina, Mary
Rountree Moore grew up in Greensboro. She is a
graduate of St. Mary’s College in Raleigh and the
University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a BA
in Art Education. She has also studied painting at the
National Academy School of Fine Arts in New York
City.
In describing her own art, Mary says, “I
strive to capture the feeling of those fleeting
moments of the sublime – the vast beauty of nature
which humbles us all. The images are derived from
nature’s innate abstractions, allowing the mind’s eye
to gather its own interpretations. It is the memory of
those undeniable visual experiences that gives me
inspiration.”
We're delighted that Mary remains
inspired to produce these gorgeous new landscapes!
Mary's paintings are featured in the May issue of
Southwest Art Magazine!
All the images shown
above are oil on canvas, gallery-wrapped and unframed
as this type of canvas is designed to have the sides
painted and the canvas unframed for a modern, stylish
look.

ANGIE OLAMI TRUNK SHOW MAY 30!
 Here's a tiny sneak
peek at the fabulous Angie Olami jewelry coming in for
the "Girls Day Out" trunk show on May 30! Angie
Olami jewelry is made from the handblown fragments of
ancient perfume pots, juglets, lamps, flasks, vases,
cups, and bowls. Each fragment varies in thickness,
age, and composition. Each piece underwent its own
unique transformation as it became weathered with
layers of patina. If a shard doesn't sit exactly
straight in its bezel, remember it is someone's wine
glass you are wanting to wear in your ear! The
irridescent glass is over 2000years
old! The breathtaking shards of glass Angie
Olami uses in her jewelry date from 100 BCE to 300 CE.
They were unearthed in Israel by archaeologists
sifting through the fallen pillars and once
magnificent cities of the Roman Empire. We now
have some samples of the jewelry in the gallery for
you to see and much more on the way....so...check your
email box for the announcement. These one of a
kind, very personal pieces would make great Mother's
Day or Graduation gifts!! Mark your
calendar!
