Early classes at the Carnegie Museum School of Art in Pittsburgh provided the artistic base for his future work, while his vocation honed his interest in the effects of weather and season on the land. This lead to an intense and ongoing study of the art of the landscape that has shaped and driven his artistic output for over twenty-five years. Jack divides his time between a studio on the Little Pee Dee River and the mountains of North Carolina. He is primarily a realist painter, working in a traditional manner in oils, painting the effects of weather and seasons on the landscape. NEW ARTIST JACK CAYTON!
A background in aviation as a military and corporate pilot, coupled with an avid photography hobby, served as a catalyst for the art career of Jack Cayton. Early classes at the Carnegie Museum School of Art in Pittsburgh provided the artistic base for his future work, while his vocation honed his interest in the effects of weather and season on the land. This lead to an intense and ongoing study of the art of the landscape that has shaped and driven his artistic output for over twenty-five years.

Jack divides his time between a studio on the Little Pee Dee River and the mountains of North Carolina. He is primarily a realist painter, working in a traditional manner in oils, painting the effects of weather and seasons on the landscape.

Jack says of his art, “the intent of my art is not to specifically paint the disappearing landscape but rather to search out those places that can imbue a felling of calm and restore the sense of a private place.
