                  NEW ARTIST JACK CAYTON!
A background in aviation as a military and corporate pilot, coupled with an avid photography hobby, served as a catalyst for the art career of Jack Cayton. Early classes at the Carnegie Museum School of Art in Pittsburgh provided the artistic base for his future work, while his vocation honed his interest in the effects of weather and season on the land. This lead to an intense and ongoing study of the art of the landscape that has shaped and driven his artistic output for over twenty-five years.

Jack divides his time between a studio on the Little Pee Dee River and the mountains of North Carolina. He is primarily a realist painter, working in a traditional manner in oils, painting the effects of weather and seasons on the landscape.

Jack says of his art, “the intent of my art is not to specifically paint the disappearing landscape but rather to search out those places that can imbue a felling of calm and restore the sense of a private place. The ability to pre-visualize a scene – to develop a feeling or mood that a particular place evokes – this is the essence of the technique I use to develop a painting. I search out places that I respond to, either because of specific compositional features or the prevailing atmospheric conditions. My goal is never to exactly replicate a specific view or scene but rather to interpret and translate the feelings that I absorb from my observations. This often means repeated visits to the area, sketching and photographing the scene under varying light and weather conditions until I can say that I know this place. Even then I may let the prospective subject rest for months before I attempt the painting. The revelent factor in this approach is my ability to visualize
the scene from my notes, sketches and photographs, so that when I stretch a canvas in my studio and begin to block in the composition, it is as if I were standing at the site, preparing to paint in plein-air fashion.”

Jack Clayton’s work attracts private as well as corporate collectors. Cayton is an elected or juried member of a number of national arts organizations and is represented by galleries in Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.

Be sure to come in and see Jack's serenely beautiful landscapes!

                  NEW WORKS FROM CHRISTINE DEBROSKY!
Christine Debrosky's contemporary realist paintings have been selected for, and honored with awards, in numerous regional, national, and international exhibitions. Among these are Pastels USA, Salon International, The Pastel Society of America International, and American Women Artists Invitational, Sorrento, Italy. Her work is in many private and corporate collections, and been included in The Best of Pastel and Landscape Inspirations, Quarry Books, Rockport Publishers. Listed in Who's Who in American Art, she holds signature membership in The Pastel Society of America, Pastel Society of the West Coast, The Northeast Watercolor Society, and Degas Pastel.

Christine Debrosky has the rare ability to capture the transient effects of natural light, transforming a seemingly mundane corner of our world to something extraordinary. She says of her work,
"Nature bathed in a glowing light is a favored subject. While a sense of place is important, more so is season, time of day, and the intoxicating array of color, shape, and form. Working in pastel, and oil, with its rich pure pigments, keeps me excited about the inherent beauty and challenge unique to the media. Painting, communing and gathering reference material outdoors is a spiritually rejuvenating experience. It is "re-creation" in the truest sense of the word."

Whether roaming her native banks of the Hudson River, the Catskill Mountains, or more far-flung locales for inspiration, a joyous celebration of the natural world is at the core of her work. the new, small scale works just arrived attest to Christine's skill and popularity with collectors.
